About us

My name is Mike Halloran. I served twelve years in the U.S. Army, mostly in the 10th Mountain Division, with two deployments to Iraq between 2005 and 2010. I separated as a sergeant first class in 2014. I now live in Maryland with my wife and two kids, and I work in operations management for a logistics company.

I started writing about veteran life because I kept getting the same questions from people I served with. How to file a VA claim. How to translate military experience into a civilian resume. How to talk to kids about deployments. I wrote a few things down, shared them, and found that people found them useful — so I kept going.

This site is a personal blog. I am not a benefits counselor, I am not a doctor, and I am not affiliated with any veterans organization. I write based on my own experiences and what I’ve learned from other veterans I trust. If something I share helps even one person figure out their own situation, that’s enough for me.
